Savage Arms Canada

The Savage Arms Company is a firearms manufacturing company based in Westfield, Massachusetts, along with a division located in Canada. Savage Arms specializes in rimfire and centerfire rifles.

Savage Arms was created in 1894 by Arthur Savage in Utica, New York. Arthur Savage was originally a native of Jamaica, where he eventually moved to England and then the United States. From here, Arthur accomplished developing the Savage Halpine Torpedo and became the Superintendent of the Utica Belt Line Railroad. He is best known and recognized for inventing the first "hammerless" lever action rifle. This rifle was known for the entire mechanism enclosed in a steel receiver, as well as a featured rotary magazine with a unique counter that visually displayed the number of bullets remaining in the receiver. The rifle eventually became known as Model 99 which advanced firearm technology and provided the average person an advanced rifle that was affordable by the masses.

Some of the recent success includes their 2002 development of a safe, user-adjustable trigger, called the AccuTrigger. Also, Savage Arms recently launched AccuStock an aluminum stock embedded rail system to better enhance action accuracy and stability. This new technology continues to be available on several of their models. In 2003, Savage Arms was awarded the Manufacturer of the Year by the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence in 2003. Today, the spirit of Savage Arms is still evident in its ongoing aim to provide innovation, quality, and value in its firearms.
